The person behind the practice.
Who I am
I've been doing this work for over fifteen years. I say "this work" because the way I practise now doesn't look much like where I started.
Early in my career, I tried to be the kind of therapist who had strategies for everything. Tips. Action plans. Simple explanations. The thing you could try this week. I tried to be everything to everyone. I don't know if that was really helpful. I know it didn't feel like me.
What I wanted to do, what I was kind of built to do, was to go deeper. Not in some grand, dramatic way. Just. Deeper. Past the story someone tells about themselves and into the experience underneath it. Honest, real, alive.
That's what I do now.
How I work
I'm trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Level 2. If you don't know what that means, don't worry about it. For those need-to-know parts, you can Google it if you want. For some of you that might be helpful. For others it might be another way to pull you back into your head.
Here's what it actually feels like.
You come in. We talk. At some point, I notice something in what you're saying. Not the content. The energy underneath it. The dynamics inside. I'll invite you to notice it, too. To follow it. To stay with it instead of jumping back into your head.
This might sound like a strange thing for a therapist to say. But the best sessions aren't the ones where everything gets resolved. They're the ones where something gets met for the first time, and there's actually space for it.
People walk in tired of how they've been managing. They walk out more engaged and alive to their own experience. That's the shift. It's not dramatic. It's quiet. And it changes things.
Who I work with
Self-aware adults. Late 20s to middle age, usually. People who are intellectually curious about themselves. Who have done work on their own. Books. Podcasts. Journaling. Maybe some therapy before.
They're not in crisis. They're in a transition. Something is shifting. Career. Relationship. Identity. Parenthood. Immigration. Loss. But the way they've been handling things isn't cutting it anymore.
The people who do well with me are the ones who've been managing everything from the outside and are starting to think it's not who they are or want to be anymore. They want depth. Something real and honest. Not a cookie-cutter approach or tips.
I don't work with everyone. The way I work is specific and it's not right for every person. That's okay. When the fit is right, you'll feel it from this page.
What I don't do
I don't do crisis work. If you're in an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
I don't do couples therapy. I don't work with children or adolescents.
I don't use workbooks. I don't offer tips for managing your anxiety.
I don't explain the method during sessions. I use it. You experience it. The theory stays where it belongs.
I don't do free consultations. My experience is that the people who read this page and know it's right don't need a sales pitch. They've already decided before they reach out.
The personal stuff
I started practising in Montreal, then Toronto. I've worked in schools, hospitals, and community clinics, and began my own practice in 2015.
I'm insatiably curious. I genuinely see myself and my clients as fellow travellers. I'm curious about what makes someone decide to finally go inward, and what they'll discover in that inner place.
One of my favourite moments in a session is when someone says something like, "this is so weird, but…" like they're receiving a new download, and then something shifts.
That moment is why I do this.
